My past 4 days were spent at Reading Festival ![]()
V last week, Reading this week. They've made my summer! A group of about 18 of us all went up and luckily found a space in green camp, big enough for all our tents, with a fairly big bit inbetween which we used for a campfire area. It was pretty much the perfect spot, not too far from the actual festival arena and just the right distance from first aid and the toilets [which were vile]
We got up there by about 12 on Thursday, set up all our tents and just generally spent the day looking around the place settling in and that. We tried the toilets, they were as expected, awful. Theyre basically a row of about 6 cubicles, back to back with another 6, and its pretty much just a hole on a box in there, and everyones 'waste' goes into the long drop below. They didnt smell too bad at first, but by the Sunday I couldnt even walk past them without needing to gag. The arena ones thankfully were far better.
We woke up fairly early on Friday and took the shuttle boat to Tesco to buy some breakfast food and use the toilets there before the acts began at 12. On the way back to the boat we passed Dougie and Tom from Mcfly. It was quite bizarre. Owl, Sam and I literally walked past staring at them before thinking 'OHMYGOD' once they'd passed us. We're Mcfangirls you see
We got back, ate our food then headed over to the festival. That day we saw Manchester Orchestra, Alexisonfire, Tim Minchin, Fall Out Boy, Florence + The Machine, Friendly Fires, Jamie T and Marmaduke Duke. They were all really good but my favourites were certainly the last 4 I mentioned. We were right at the front for Jamie T, on the big screen and everything
I had origanally wanted to see Kings Of Leon, but couldnt resist Marmaduke Duke in the end. I caught a little of KOL whilst waiting for MD and from what I saw they were good, but the crowd didnt seem that great and the atmosphere from where I was wasnt anything compared to that of Marmaduke Duke's.

Saturday was quite a relaxing day at first, that just ended up going bad, then good again haha. We started the day at the signing tent where I met Fightstar and Spinnerette. Meeting Spinnerete was amazing. For those that don't know, Spinnerette are made up of Brody Dalle and Tony Bevilacqua from The Distillers. I'm a big Brody Fan. BIG FAN. She's the women on the banner of this blog and just ridiculously hot. I met her with Li, who is also a big fan, bigger than me. I mean meeting Brody is like her dream, she actually cried after and was shaking the whole time bless her. After we headed back to camp before going out again to catch the 'secret' act, after hearing rumour of who it may be. Turned out the rumours we'd heard were true and it was Them Crooked Vultures, Dave Grohl [Foo Fighters] and Josh Homme's [Quens Of The Stone Age] new band. I went to the toilet halfway through and on the way back bumped into Shanade...STiCKs13...and hung out with her and her friends whilst they played
They finished so I wandered off to find my friends before heading over to see Maximo Park and The Prodigy.
Prodigy were amazing, despite the crowd I was in being full of dickheads who thought that starting a mosh was simply pushing one another into people who are just trying to dance. They finished and the crowd to get out was so bad. It was by far the worst crowd I've ever been in, and it wasnt even for a band. I got hit in the stomach and began to have a panic attack which was scary as fuck. Luciky this guy grabbed me and yanked me to the side before getting me some water and making room so I could calm down. I've always been slightly claustrophobic, but I've never had anything this bad before. I was crying and couldnt breathe and blaah it was horrible. We finally got out the crowd and I sat down for a bit before watching Arctic Monkeys. They were pretty dissapointing, playing a lot of their new stuff rather than their older things I prefered. So we headed over to the NME not knowing who was on, we just wanted to go in a tent to keep warm. Turned out it was Gossip, and they were amazing. Beth Ditto is amazing.

Sunday was my best and worst day haha. I felt so rough due to a cold I'd had since V the week before, and some horrible thing wrong with my tooth that had made my cheek start to swell a little. I woke up feeling and looking awful, I cried, I moaned about everything, I cried some more, then my friends tucked me up in my tent again like a child and I napped. They're lovely girls, them
I woke up a few hours later, stocked up on paracetomol and headed over to the Alternative tent to see comedians Kojo and Adam Buxton, of Adam and Joe, with Fae. We watched them and ate doughnuts, it was nice. We both wanted to see different bands after so I went to see Passion Pit whilst she saw Brand New. Passion Pit were amaaazing. One of the best I saw. I thought they'd be good but they were way better than I expected. We met again after to watch Vampire Weekend, who played a mix of old and new stuff, and their new stuff sounds really good! After we split again, I watched Yeah Yeah Yeah's whilst Fae saw The Gaslight Anthem.
I was quite dissapointed by YYY's. Karen O kept shouting 'Woo! Yeah! Sunday! Reading!' over and over and I really dont know why, it was quite funny after a while. They were good, not as good as I'd hoped though. I met Fae again after and we watched Bloc Party. I love Bloc Party. I've seen them a couple of times before and they're always amazing. I can't wait to see them again in October. Next were Radiohead. I'm not a fan, I was hoping seeing them live would change my mind but no. Don't get me wrong, they were extremely good live, and if I liked them I'd have loved it. But I just find them boring. I was glad they opened with Creep though. Apparently they havent played it live in 8 years or something? I dont know, that sounds odd to me but if so it was nice as its the only one I really do like. I didnt take any pictures today, 'cause i looked so dreadful. We went back to camp after and everyone was setting fire to things etc, scary stuff but I had a good last night ![]()

Laura gave me a lift home Monday morning, I showered as soon as I came in and despite my cheek swelling up more so I look half like a hamster and my tooth killing me, it was laaavely to spend a nice day inside. Overall, despite my health problems I had a really good weekend!
As good as V? I cant decide. Both were amazing. They've made this summer one to remember!
