You know what really bugs me? That 'want respect, use a condom' advert! Mainly because I find it really sexist towards guys. If you havent seen the advert, theres usually two adverts involved in the same advert break, and they both show a guy and a girl seprately telling their group of friends about how they slept with their boy/girlfriend the night before. However in the first advert, they explain how they didnt use a condom and their mates 'lose respect' for them because of this, and in the second which is usually shown a few adverts later, they both explain how they did use and condom and their mates are now impressed. So thats where the whole 'want respect use a condom' slogan comes in.
Now correct me if Im wrong, because Ive only seen 2 or 3 of these adverts, but Its always the girl regretting not using a condom, and her friend(s) comforting her, whilst the guy acts like he doesnt care so much and his mates have a go at him almost telling his hes stupid.
Firstly, they both decided to go unprotected, so its both equally their fault, and the girls mate should be telling her she was stupid like the guys mates tell him. Secondly, why is it always made to look like the guy didnt care and the girl does. It just makes it look as though the guy was the irresponsible one!
Am I making any sense?
In my opinion, it is a clever advert with the message it sends across and that, but I dont think theres any need to make it look like the guys fault when they were both involved and clearly both knew what they were doing.
