La Roux has slammed RnB music, labelling it "empty" and "lyrically really bad".

The chart-topping singer - whose real name is Elly Jackson - told BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat: "It's very kind of empty, like hollow and not rooted in anything good or healthy.

"Lyrically it's just like really really bad - I think a lot of it just doesn't mean anything."

She went on: "I think a lot of it is, 'Baby I love you, I want to kiss you.' It's just like, 'What are you on about? Shut up.' It certainly doesn't make me feel anything special, or doesn't make me think, or go somewhere else in my mind. I just don't get it."

Elly, who is at No 1 with Bulletproof, also has a problem with the outfits associated with the music.

"The clothes... I just think it's like basically naked," she moaned.

"It has been like that since the 90s, it's not just now. I just don't think it's good and there's lots of girls in pop that are 17/18-years-old and they're half naked and it's just 'why?' And you wonder if you weren't half naked, would you be selling any records? Which obviously is just wrong."

She added: "You shouldn't be selling records because you're half naked - if you want to do that, be a porn star."

RnB is hardly my favourite genre either, but I don't feel the need to go badmouthing it. I'm sure a lot of RnB singers don't like her music either, but as far as I know, none of them have said anything about it to the extent of what she's just said. Congratulations La Roux, you've got yourself a bit of publicity out of all this, which I suppose is an alright thing if you dont mind sounding like a narrowminded tit.

Lately life has been okay. Nothing to rave about but good all the same (:

I've realised how much of an old person I'm turning into by wethers originals, moaning about how my back hurts and watching deal or no deal, coach trip and come dine with me everyday. I'm so cool it hurts

I've finished college and it feels so nice to finally finish everything Now I'm trying to save money and hopefully have had an EMA bonus added to my account so I'll check that laterrr.

My social life is fun lately. I'm out most nights even if its just over a friends for dinner, and during the day I've been wandering down to sixthform to see the best ones. We mostly just talk and play cards or walk over to the park and hang by the half pipe like we used to back in year 9 when we'd bunk our afternoon lessons every few friday or so. It's nice I've got a few parties in July I'm looking forward to and especially seing a friend I havent in years. He's called Nik but we've always called him Jasper, dont ask, and he's been in our friend group since school. He moved to America right after GCSE's and we havent seen him since, but in a few weeks he's coming to spend his summer over here and we're all extreeemely excited. I'm going to drag him around London and make him want to stay forever!
The boys in my group are having a 'manly' night out tonight, I just think its so they can all talk about what they find inappropriate to say infront of us girls and we dont mind. We have enough girl nights and sleepovers to be able to say what we cant infront of them, and them going out is just another excuse to have a girl night tonight. 2009 has been preper naff so far. Like PROPER NAFF.

It's had its good times aswell as it's bad, but I just really havent been enjoying myself too much this year. Maybe because I had an amazing year last year I'm comparing and just wanting it to be better, which I should already know is going to be hard as I loved 08 so much. Ironic really as last year seemed so stressful with my GCSE's, Mother and Stepfather problems and generally finding out who I can trust and who I cant, but like I say I loved it. It seems their was always something going on, good or bad, and it was exciting. However 2009 has been fairly stress free and I'm not used to it. I have no exams to revise for, I finish college early whilst my closest friends still attend sixth form til the end of July, and my next gigs arnt lined up til the end of August! V and Reading Festival arrive sooner, I beg you.

I've had such a bad past week...bar Friday and Saturday...they were alright. But yeah, this last week seems to have been filled with stupid, rude, arrogant and selfish people and plain boredom. College is awkward, shit and is starting to make me sad now rather than annoyed. My closest friends have all finished their A Levels and are all celebrating with one another, leaving me feeling a bit left out as I didnt have to do them and Mother is driving me absolutely insane.

This post has been naff and basically full of me self pitying. I'm such a hypocrite.

So today I was bored poo-less. My Aunt came over and her and Mother spent the whole afternoon talking to each other so fast I could barely understand a full sentance each of them said. I hope I'm like that with my friends one day, maybe we're like it already? I dont know but it's nice.

So anyway, I came online and about 8 people were on MSN, and they were the kinda people who you dont really know why you have thier email addresses because you never speak to them. I searched through facebook and found nothing to amuse me so came on here to read through some of my older blogs. I found my '100 things about me' list, and looked at the date to find it was exactly a year and 2 days ago I posted it. A WHOLE YEAR...and a bit! That's mad! So much has changed since then its unreal. So...as youve probably guessed, I made another. I struggled once I'd past the 70 mark, but it long with Spotify kept me busy most of the afternoon

So I'm watching the MTV awards last night like I do every year, and they showed the trailer for the new film in the Twilight series, New Moon.

I'm sort of one of those things...you know...Twilight lovers. Yeah thats the one. So basically if Twilight doesnt interest you, ignore all this bit above the video

So Gina and I LOVE it. Even Emma loves it and she's not too bothered by Twilight! What is the main reason you love it, Hannah? Well me, its because of the blimmin awesome transformation from human to wolf. I was scared it was going to be a shit transformation, a bit Teen Wolf if you will, but I love it! Plus Taylor Lautner topless is never bad. The whole trailer makes Gina and I do this weird sound that can only be described as 'brphwoar' and makes our hands turn into a sort of upwards facing claw...kudos if you just tried it with your hand.

- I love Andy Samberg anyway but I thought he was a pretty good host! Plus I loved his beginning skit, hilarious.
- The Eminem and Bruno thing? Fake? Real? I've no idea but whatever it was it made Eminem look like a bit of a cock.
- Forest Whitaker singing 'Dick In A Box' was probably one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen.
- I love you Kings Of Leon, the more footage I see of you live the more I look forward to Reading Festival.
- Kristen Stewart dropping her award, I didnt know whether to cringe or laugh.

And finally, when Zac Efron collected best actor award, he said thank you 12 times in the space of a minute. Thats once every 5 seconds!

I did say my next entry would be talking about when I went to see Kimya Dawson, so here goes.

I went with Sam and we got there much earlier than we had planned so we sat in the park outside it and read magazines for a bit, before being shouted at by some random chav men who were quite a bit older than us which was scary. It's not even like they were drunk, they just had nothing better to do...freaks. So we moved over to the steps outside the building where there were other people around and no scary men. The Venue was the Union Chapel and its gorgeous!

Doors opened after what seemed like ages and as we were the first few people there we got front row which I liked very much. There was some little guy walking around selling ice cream so we each got some of that before the first support act came on. His name is Angelo Spencer, and he's actually Kimya's husband. We only figured this out a little while after he'd been playing and at exactly the same time which was weird. He was quite odd, a bit different so in many ways a lot like Kimya except not in the same way. I liked him.

Next was Karl Blau. I really liked this guy! He sounded a bit folk/country which I'm not usually a fan of, but he mixed a bit of every genre in. He was extremly clever in creating the sounds he played, which I'm sure sounds odd but I've no way to explain it as I know nothing about technology in music ha. One song of his I really did like was called 'Thats how I got Memphis', I think I like it for the lyrics more than anything. It's this one here:

He told us how on their tour it was him, his wife and thier child, and Kimya and Angelo with their little girl Panda. Panda is the most adorable name for a toddler ever, sounds odd but if you see or hear Kimya and Angelo, it's not for their child at all. He made the tour sounds so sweet I started to wish I was on it.

He left and not long after Kimya came on. She must be at least mid 30's but she's so cute. I wanted to take her home. She's short, quite plump in a 'she must be amazing to hug' sort of way, has dark curly hair that looked almost plaited down and the sides to leave her with a tiny mohawk, snakebite piercings, tattoos up her arms of cartoon robots and other creatues and the words 'LAFF LOUD' tattooed on her knuckles. She's beautiful in a way. Her voice is almost childlike and the way she sings so fast sort of puts you in a trance as you listen to her frankly honest lyrics over her guitar. From her lyrics alone you can tell she either has an amazing imagination or has lived one hell of a life, and although I cant always find them relatable, I could listen to her for days on end.

The whole gig has such a homely feel to it down from the lighting to the way Kimya and her two backing musicians, who were boy and girl twins of about 19 or 20, had to tune between every few songs as theyd not had time to soundcheck. It finished about 11 and we needed to be back in time to get our last train so unfortunately didnt have time to meet her, which I was gutted about but I shall try to next time she plays the UK! Also, on the way home some had killed themself on the Victoria Line. This is the second time after a gig and the third time in total this year that Sam and I have been travelling to London and someones gone under. I think we're cursed!

i found some sunglasses in my drawer i didnt realise i had. i put them on to see what i looked like and forgot to take them off so im still wearing them. I've been wearing them now for about 4 hours.

Today I went to watch the Airshow in Southend.
It's an annual thing near to where I live and I've been going there ever since I can remember really. It's pretty much just an aeroplane show really, they have the Red Arrows....Red Arrows...and some other fancy ones. If I'm honest, I dont care for the others much, the Red Arrows are the only ones I care about because they're clearly the best there and have the best tricks and all that polava.

It was a reeeally nice day I went with Father and Jack as they're huge geeks about it, although they'd never admit it to anyone. It's always packed with crowds of people along the seafront so the whole spirit of the place is nice, plus the weather was gooorgeous! I am veeeery sunburnt but I tan easily, so fingers crossed I'll be brown tomorrow!

We got there about an hour before the planes started and ate some chips whilst looking out onto the sea. Then moved along to find a nice spot on Pier Hill, the same place I eat lunch on nice days in college, get an ice cream and wait for the planes to begin. I honestly thought it was going to be a bit of a boring day but it just turned out really nice. I got the chance to hang out with Jack and Dad properly for the first time in ages and because we see Dad as more of a friend than a Father, we had a really good time. I like my relationship with my Dad, and although due to him living well over half the year at other side of the world we don't see him too much, we're still close.

I still need to blog about McFly and Kimya Dawson gigs. I might leave the Mcfly one, Kimya will be talked about in my next entry
